Power of Wellness – A Little Indulgence
"It's almost the holidays, let's indulge, Carole!" my friend Marilyn says every November.
From now until the end of the year, it's the perfect time to enjoy life's extras, whether it's a little sweet, naughty, or an extra spoonful of everything, such as Caviar chased by some Cristal left on ice.
But I always remind my clients, especially as we get closer to the end of the year, and the running around town gets more intense, and prepping family dinners gets more demanding ... just stop.
Before the craziness takes over your schedule, get in the habit now of making time for yourself. I know this is easier said than done, especially if you have young children, but here's a delicious, fool-proof way to get a few extra minutes. You just need some milk.
Europeans are fond of serving their coffee with some fresh warm milk, and a chocolate or cookie on the side. I've adopted this ritual every morning.
- Taking the time to prep your coffee differently gets you out of operating on autopilot in the morning; making you more conscientious throughout the day;
- Taking the time to warm up your milk gives you a few extra minutes of peace and quiet;
- Taking the time to enjoy a cup of coffee you thoughtfully prepared before the house wakes up... I'm sure you're already daydreaming ...
There are many ways to indulge in life's finer things. But I like sharing with clients creative, fun ways to get more time: It's the one thing you can't buy, and you always wish you had more of.
